Accelerate the human adoption of new technologies

Let’s write about the willingness and ability of employees to adopt new technologies post-digital transformation or merger.

Collaboration between IT and HR can significantly enhance human adoption. Most of the time, an external injection of change expertise can be useful. You can count on my support.

First things first. Did you know, in Belgium, approximately 21.6 percent, or more than one in five employees, experiences workplace uncertainty due to frequent technological changes.

CIOs and IT teams serve as the backbone of any digital transformation initiative. Beyond their technical expertise and hands-on involvement in implementing new technologies, their strategic contributions are crucial. Their strategic vision extends to fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability, providing essential leadership in navigating the dynamic intersection of technology and business. Moreover, they are instrumental in identifying and addressing potential challenges during the adoption phase, contributing to the overall success of the transformation process.

An external change expert can play a crucial role in supporting leadership growth and facilitating successful change within an organization. Here are several ways in which I can contribute:

  • Change Management Expertise: I can bring specialized knowledge into the organization on change management methodologies via sparring partner sessions with the management team or internal project change team.

  • Leadership Coaching and Development: I provide one-on-one coaching sessions for leaders, helping you navigate the complexities of change. This involves developing leadership skills, fostering a change-oriented mindset, and addressing any personal or team-related challenges.

  • Change Workshops and Training: I give change and resilience workshops and training sessions who are designed to equip leaders and employees with the necessary skills to adapt to change, manage uncertainties, and contribute positively to the transformation process.

  • Communication Strategy: I can assist leadership in crafting and executing a comprehensive communication strategy (aligned with ADKAR, Kotter,…). This involves keeping all stakeholders informed, addressing concerns, and fostering transparency throughout the dynamic process.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: I can assist in mapping out the stakeholder landscape (for example with a power-interest matrix), understanding their concerns, and developing dynamic strategies to gain their support.

  • Best Practices: You can ask me to facilitate peer-to-peer sessions where everyone can bring in best practices and learn from the process.

  • Conflict Resolution: In the face of change, conflicts may arise. I can assist in identifying and resolving conflicts, promoting collaboration, and maintaining a positive work environment.

My role is to bridge the gap between the technical aspects of the transformation and the human side of change that enhance human adoption.

When IT and the people side of change work in harmony, their collective efforts create a robust framework for successful digital transformation or mergers. The IT teams provide the technical know-how, the CIO provides strategic direction, and the change facilitator ensures that the human element is not overlooked in close collaboration with HR.
